VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Nearly half of British Columbians think the Federal Government is not doing enough for our environment, a recent survey suggests.

The study from the Research Co. says about 45 per cent of British Columbians who responded to an online survey think Ottawa has not paid enough attention to the environment.

The level of criticism is highest amongst women, and people over 55.

The overall numbers are ever-so-slightly better for municipal and provincial governments.

Air pollution, river, lake and reservoir pollution, climate change and drinking water pollution are the issues most people are considered about.

Other issues include deforestation, the extinction of plant and animal species, and overfishing.

About 29 per cent think Ottawa is doing enough, while 17 per cent think the federal government is focusing too much on this issue.
